Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the largest communication service provider in the Middle East, and Huawei, a leading global information and communication technology (ICT) solutions provider, have announced the signing of a four-year contract for telecom Managed Services with Huawei set to provide operations and maintenance as well as network performance management services for STC's wireless, microwave, and core networks in the Kingdom.

The latest contract further strengthens the partnership between Huawei and STC, which dates back to 2000. Earlier this year, Huawei and STC signed a memorandum of understanding with for leadership in the field of mobile broadband within local and global markets during the Mobile World Congress 2013. Additional collaborations have included Internet protocol television (IPTV) consultancy support, network performance management, nine years of Hajj event assurance, and customer experience management. 

Managed Services solutions are generally utilized by operators to manage specific day-to-day areas of their network and operation. These can be used to assure performance management, spare parts management, and management of field operations as a way to enable operators to focus on their core service offerings.

Huawei has been an early mover in the Managed Services market globally as well as in the Middle East, where the company has already provided such services to a host of leading operators.
