Dubai, December 7, 2010: Gold's Gym, one of the prestigious health clubs and fitness centers in the world and brought to the UAE by Al Ahli Holding Group, has joined the Business Village, a project of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (MBRE), one of the agencies of the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED).
"This step comes in line with the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to promote sports and exercises on a daily basis in various sectors and areas due to the sports positive impact on human health and productivity and development", Abdul Baset Janahi, CEO, MBRE, said.

It has succeeded to attract large number of institutions since its inception during a short period of time due to the ideal environment and attractive opportunities and services offered for entrepreneurs and investors", he added.

The new facility also offers an accessible option for SMEs and businessmen to host seminars, presentations, training programmes, product launches and exhibitions.
A growing number of SMEs in general trading, travel, engineering consultancy, real estate, legal consultancy, banking and finance as well as cafes, mini markets and food and beverage outlets are already operating in the Business Village.
Global and government agencies such as the German Business Council, UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade, Department of Economic Development in Dubai, Foreign Investment Office, Export Development Corporation, Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, in addition to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, are also based out of the Business Village.

The Business Village is Dubai's Government's latest landmark development in the heart of Dubai. The million square feet commercial development is set to be the regions Largest Business Incubation Park and the focal point for all regional Entrepreneurial Development activities.

In September 2009, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued Law No.23 of 2009 concerning the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, one of the Department of Economic Development establishments, recently renamed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders. The new law confirms the commitment of Dubai Government to support the development of SMEs sector.
The law defines the goals and responsibilities of the establishment. Given that SMEs include 98.5% of registered business in Dubai, with 61% of the work force working in this sector, the law aims to strengthen Dubai's position as a centre for entrepreneurship and enterprise development based on innovation and intellectual property.
