· Experts from GE to share hands-on experience on some of their latest technologies developed for the marine industry

· GE Marine's Dynamic Positioning Center in Egypt underlines strong commitment to the region

Abu Dhabi - As the leader and innovator in the global marine industry, GE (NYSE: GE) is showcasing its advanced suite of technology innovations and services that support marine businesses to enhance their operational efficiency at the Sea Trade Offshore Marine & Workboats Middle East exhibition being held from October 5 to 7, 2015, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.

GE Marine's extensive portfolio of next generation products and services has been developed to meet the emerging needs of the marine industry and support its future growth. With a regional presence in Abu Dhabi since 1975, these solutions are specially tailored to meet regional requirements.

"Through our participation at the Sea Trade Offshore Marine & Workboats Middle East exhibition, we are further underlining our commitment to be closer to our customers, to listen to their requirements and offer them cutting edge solutions that will enhance their operational efficiency and productivity," said Tim Schweikert, Vice President of GE Marine. "Our advanced marine solutions are optimized to support the sustainable growth of the marine industry and address the needs for higher fuel efficiency and economy, greater flexibility, and improved reliability and availability."

"With 400 GE Marine service teams worldwide, we are well equipped to serve this fast-growing region with Abu Dhabi serving as an important partner. We will continue to reinforce our commitment to providing the best of solutions to power, propel and position the marine industry," he added.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has been successfully operating four vessels with GE Marine's diesel engines for 7 years. ADNOC also has ordered two vessels at Granweld Shipyard in Dubai with GE's diesel engines. These vessels will be delivered to ADNOC later this year.

Highlighting its commitment to localization, GE Marine has joined hands with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) to operate a Dynamic Positioning Center in Alexandra, Egypt. The center will re-open shortly with the latest innovative technology. GE Marine provides Class A simulators to the facility that enables realistic sea training for local marine industry professionals.

It is only one of 12 such centres globally that are qualified by the National Institute (NI) to offer Sea Time Reduction courses. Since its inception, the Dynamic Positioning Center has extended training to over 400 professionals, providing them the accreditation to operate DP systems.

Among the technologies being showcased at GE Marine's stand at Booth M-30 of the exhibition are:

·         GE Marine L250 and V250 Series Diesel Engines that meet the EPA's stringent Tier 4 and IMO's Tier III emission standards without the use of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment and urea-based after-treatment. For over 40 years, GE Marine has been building dependable, long-lasting, and fuel-efficient medium-speed diesel engines. These engines are used in some of the world's most challenging industrial environments including tugboats in Turkey, fishing vessels in Peru, and ferries and offshore oil and gas support vessels in Norway. In total, more than 15,000 GE diesel engines are in service worldwide.

·         SeaStream DP: GE's mariner-friendly package of marine controls and displays acknowledges the unique skills and high expectations of mariners operating the dynamic positioning system, allowing them to re-focus on seamanship and ship handling rather than operating a complex system. It includes an ecomaginationTM energy efficient mode that is anticipated to deliver up to 10% or potentially more in fuel savings while reducing NOx by up to 20%, depending on environmental factors and exact operational profile.

"GE has deep expertise in the industry and a rich history of providing successful solutions. We have combined our experience and ingenuity into developing advanced technologies that are set to be benchmarks in their segments," said Schweikert of GE Marine.
