'The Omani economy has been witnessing a consistent growth for the last 30 years. The main growth areas have been crude oil production and refining, natural and liquefied natural gas (LNG) production; construction, cement, copper, steel, chemicals, optic fiber. These sectors have contributed a significant share to the economy in the last decade. That being said, the need of HSE Management in general and Fire Safety in particular is significant given the high risk industries in Oman. At the same time, free trade areas like the Port of Salalah and the high volume of goods flowing through these zones highlight the need for Fire Safety and Protection. The large scale privatization of utilities and unprecedented growth in the construction sector have furthered the development of the Fire Safety industry in Oman. The Omani industry and the government are focused on Safety Management in the backdrop of the facts above' says Harshad Katika, Conference Producer of Fire Safe Oman 2012.

Supported by OPAL-Oman Society for Petroleum Services, Fire Safe Oman 2012, is a  forum focused on creating a safe, accident free environment and will be held on 17-18 April 2012 in Muscat. Lasse Sahl Christensen, Fire Safety Engineer & Chief Specialist, COWI who is to speak on Muscat International Airport on the topic of 'An Example of Performance based design vs. prescriptive design codes' quotes "It is important to have a good network in order to be a good fire engineer, attending Fire Safe Oman 2012 should be a must for all fire interested engineers!"

Fire Safe Oman 2012 will provide a platform to discuss some of the best practices in fire safety being deployed worldwide and share them with the Omani industry. Service providers, consultants, decision makers & government officials present at the summit will help the industry frame policies, select and implement technology that will consequently usher in a more safe environment in the years to come.
