Abu Dhabi - Crowne Plaza Yas Hotel will participate in the Arabian Travel Market due to be held in Dubai during May 4-7, an executive has said.

"We are keen to attend such a major event which is an opportunity for us to highlight our activities and services, and present new offers for summer," said Mr Sayed Tayoun, Area Director of Sales & Marketing at InterContinental Hotels Group.

He said the hotel aims to attract more guests from the GCC, other Middle East areas, Europe and Asia, adding that it achieved record high occupancy rates in the first quarter of this year. "We expect the rate to rise further by the end of this year."

He said the hotel had agreed with Ferrari World and Yas Water park to offer special packages for families during summer, noting that Crowne Plaza Yas has started enforcing some attractive offers, including a room for Dh735 including free breakfast and access to the Ferrari World and Yas Water park.

He said the hotel had signed new agreements with travel agents to bring in more tourism groups from China, India and Europe during summer. He said that the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority is planning to organize more events in summer and this will contribute to stimulating hotel business and raising occupancy rates.

Mr Tayoun said that the opening of Yas Mall has started to attract more visitors to Yas Island, which he described as a major destination for both local and foreign tourists.

He said efforts by ADTCA and Alittihad Airways had largely stimulated the tourism sector, with nearly 3.5 million tourists visiting Abu Dhabi last year.
