HSBC introduce two new career programmes designed for Emiratis at Tawdeef Recruitment Show
Abu Dhabi, 30 January, 2013: Multi-faceted communication strategies and clearly defined career paths are the keys to successful Emiratisation, a recruitment expert at HSBC Bank Middle East has said today.
Hamda Al Shamali, Manager of Emiratisation and Local Talent at HSBC Bank Middle East said that recruiting and retaining Emirati talent can be challenging, but with understanding the wants and needs of both the employer and employee, a mutually beneficial outcome is attainable.
"Successful Emiratisation is not about hiring staff, or just filling a role," said Al Shamali. "It's about finding the right fit for the new employees and providing them with the tools they need to build their careers within an organisation. Working together to ensure that the company and the individual are in agreement as to the best way to meet each other's goals and achievements will ensure long-term benefits between both parties."
Al Shamali's comments come during the week of Tawdheef Recruitment Show, currently taking place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until tomorrow (Thursday 31 January).
The three-day event is the UAE's leading careers fair supporting Emiratisation, offering an unrivalled platform for more than 100 hiring organisations to kick-start their 2013 Emiratisation initiatives, as thousands of eager UAE National job-seekers submit their CVs and prepare for on-event interviews during the three-day show.
HSBC is currently participating at Tawdheef to showcase career opportunities at the Bank, and to promote its two recently introduced development programmes, specifically designed for Emiratis - the UAE Graduate Training Programme, and HSBC Business Academy Programme.
The 24-month UAE Graduate Training Programme focuses on leadership development, tailored professional qualifications, structured career paths, performance driven rewards and international business exposure, while the one-year HSBC Business Academy Programme caters for experienced Emiratis, in helping them develop experience in areas of the Bank such as Risk and Wealth Management.
"HSBC's Career Development Planning is the key to our success in identifying, developing and progressing local talent," added Al Shamali.
"To build a lasting relationship with new hires or existing experienced colleagues, it's imperative that a clear career path has been discussed and agreed with an individual from the very beginning and then revisited on a regular basis to ensure it still meets both the needs of the organisation as well as the individual."
HSBC is one of several major banks and financial institutions participating at Tawdheef this week. Platinum sponsors for the show, National Bank of Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank are also taking part, while the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Commercial Bank International, First Gulf Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and the Union National Bank are offering hundreds of positions for qualified Emiratis across their organisations.
Tawdheef is held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Other oganisations hiring at the show include Titanium Sponsor, the Presidential Guard, Platinum Sponsors Abu Dhabi Police; Gold Sponsors ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority; Silver Sponsors Etihad Airways and the Khalifa Fund, and Registration Sponsor Abu Dhabi Airports Company.
