RIYADH: The Kingdom will enhance strategic partnerships with major national companies to rehabilitate the national cadres in various sectors, including mining.

The state-owned Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) discussed the issue with the Saudi Arabian Mining Company "Ma'aden" to provide Saudi youth training in the field of mining.

The scheme aims to increase the number of jobs in this sector to 90,000 by 2020 that would also raise its contribution to the GDP to SR97 billion, said a TVTC official.

At a meeting between TVTC governor Ahmed Al-Fuhaid and Khalid bin Saleh Almudaifer, CEO of Ma'aden, the two agreed to increase the capacity of the Saudi Institute for Mining in Arar by opening new partners to run the institute and take advantage of the training facilities.

They also discussed joint cooperation in the North Waad Institute technical project dedicated to serve the King Abdullah Project for the development of the city in technical and professional fields. They said that 20 percent of the job has already been completed.

This meeting comes within the framework of the institution's ongoing drive to strengthen the partnership with the private sector and upgrade the skills of citizens in several areas through the provision of training programs suitable for different dynamic business sectors to international standards, and to work on the expansion of strategic partnerships.

The organization is currently working on processing 8 new technical institutes in various Saudi cities. It is currently operated in partnership with the private sector bringing the total number of trainees to 13,400.
