Dubai: With the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) World Cup to be staged in the UAE in September at the Insportz Club, indoor cricket tournaments in the country are being keenly contested.

The ICC Cricket Academy indoor cricket facility is very active with tournaments being held regularly and so is Insportz Club’s indoor pitches.

Abela & Co emerged the champions of the silver category while Alec clinched the bronze category in the Sprite Challengers Cup indoor tournament at the ICC Cricket Academy indoor facilities at the Dubai Sports City.

The Insportz’s first Finesse Indoor Cricket league was contested by a whopping 52 indoor cricket teams.

The organisers had to stage three divisions.

In Division ‘B’ Cup finals, Team Falcons posted 74 runs and restricted Fanatics to 56 and win the title by 18 runs.

Interestingly, all tournaments are getting sponsorship support with Finesse Innovative Business and Technology Solutions backing the Insportz Indoor league and Sprite backing the ICC Academy event.

At ICC Academy, the silver category final of the Sprite Challengers Cup saw DBMSC B post only 62 runs and they could not overtake Abela & Co’s 65 runs.

In the bronze final Alec scored 70 runs but Wonderlands could muster only 51.

In the Insportz Division B plate final, Team Icons scored 82 and defeated Team Hard Hitters (81) by 1 run.

In the C division Cup final, Batting first Chargers ‘B’ team Scored 41 runs in their allotted 16 overs while Bad Boys posted 87 runs.

In the D division cup final, Royal Challengers (90) beat Sirkars 8 (71) and Plate finals saw Seven Seas (92) beat Ever Green (82).
