Bin Meshar: "SLC employees' health and happiness are Strategic Priorities"

UAE - As part of the ‘Your Health Matters’ initiative, the General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC), today May 16, 2017, organized a first-aid training workshop for its employees in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). The initiative aims to promote health awareness as key to the SLC employees’ health, safety and overall well-being, adopting international best practices. The initiative is in line with the SLC’s commitment to creating a healthy work environment conducive to SLC employees’ happiness. SLC employees have been encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle and embrace positivity in implementation of the directives of the UAE wise leaders who consider human health and safety top priorities.

H.E. Ahmed Bin Meshar, SLC Secretary General, affirmed: “The SLC is fully committed to creating a work environment that ensures its employees’ health and safety, which are among the SLC strategic priorities. This is achieved in cooperation with the concerned Government entities, foremost among which is the DHA, through providing the best means of educating employees on the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle based on positive values. This is in harmony with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai who said, ‘Healthcare is an issue that cannot be overlooked because it is instrumental in bringing happiness to all members of the community.’”

The SLC Human Resources Section Head Miss Mozah Al Mansouri said: “The launch of ‘Your Health Matters’ initiative marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to promote a culture of good health which will benefit the SLC employees, their families, and the society as a whole. Physical and mental health plays a role in enhancing the performance, efficiency, and productivity of our employees, who are key players in the development of an integrated legislative system in support of the Dubai’s sustainable development. We look forward to increasing health awareness and taking preventive measures in line with national efforts to turn Dubai into a home for healthy individuals, capable of playing an active and innovative role in the national development drive towards placing the Emirate of Dubai among the ranks of the world’s most advanced nations.”

The ‘Your Health Matters’ initiative event has featured a wide range of interactive activities, healthcare games, free blood pressure and cholesterol checks, in addition to one-on-one counselling on healthy eating, happiness and positivity, health issues, and how to quit smoking. The SLC employees have also received medical consultation from dermatologists, ophthalmologist, dental hygienists, and dentists.
