KHARTOUM- The Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign "Provide Medical Treatment", for the treatment of women and children, has been launched in Sudanese villages under the theme, "All of us are our Mother Fatima."The initiative, part of the Fatima bint Mubarak Volunteering Programme, will be implemented under the supervision of young Emirati and Sudanese doctors to provide the best diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services for women and children.

The campaign aims to ease the suffering of women and children under a voluntary framework and human umbrella, regardless of colour, race or religion and in implementation of the Year of Giving initiative launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union, GWU, said, that H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, pays extra attention to humanitarian work and is keen on providing the best diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services for various segments of society, especially women and children.

She added that Sheikha Fatima the 'Mother of the Nation' is committed to adopting innovative initiatives that build the capacities of Emirati women, especially in the field of volunteering and charity.

She added that the campaign will focus on providing practical and realistic field solutions to health problems that will contribute effectively and directly to alleviating the suffering of women and children by attracting the best volunteer medical professionals.

Al Suwaidi noted that under the initiative a forum will be organised for leaders of voluntary work. The focus will be on innovative voluntary projects in the health and educational domains to introduce new pioneering leaders who are able to find realistic solutions to economic and social problems. This is in line with the pillars of humanitarian work set by the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

It reflects the attention given by the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Supreme Council Members, and Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates.

The campaign is being carried out under the supervision of the GWU and the Zayed Giving Initiative with strategic partnership with the Dar Al Ber Association, the Sharjah Charity House, the Saudi German Hospitals Group, the Zayed Academy for Humanitarian Action and the Emirates Programme for Community and Specialised Volunteering, in co-ordination with Sudanese ministries and voluntary centres.
