Expo 2020 Dubai is urging Qatari firms of all sizes to take advantage of the wide-ranging business opportunities available to them through the planning, delivery, and legacy stages of the first World Expo to be held in the Arab World and Middle East, Africa and South Asia (Measa) region.

An Expo 2020 Dubai team travelled to Qatar on May 1 as part of its ‘GCC Roadshow’ to encourage business engagement and growth across the region and highlight the lasting benefits of working with the Expo. The event will run from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

Following a session with key business figures hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in Doha, the team met with heads of Qatar Chamber, Qatar Development Bank, Centre for Entrepreneurship at Qatar University, Bedaya, and the Entrepreneurs’ Association to outline the opportunities available to Qatar’s wider business community, including larger corporates and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as an overview of Expo’s procurement process.

With more than 4,200 Qatari companies operating in Dubai, Expo 2020 will open the door for many more; working directly with Expo to create partnerships and discover new opportunities will enable a range of firms to establish a lasting presence in the UAE.

Nasser Mohamed al-Muhannadi, chairman of Qatar Pavilion Committee Expo Dubai 2020, said, “We see Expo 2020 Dubai as a wonderful opportunity for our businesses to showcase Qatari ingenuity, innovations, and our expertise to the world in a wide variety of areas. “I urge Qatari businesses to take advantage of the many chances it offers them for growth and development on a global platform, and to make a long-term stake in the UAE.”

Manal al-Bayat, senior vice president of Business Development and Integration at Expo 2020 Dubai, said, “Expo 2020 Dubai will provide Qatari businesses, both large and small, the chance to showcase their capabilities on a global platform. By participating in Expo 2020 Dubai and entering into our supply chain, businesses can benefit from job creation and economic growth.”
