ABU DHABI, 27th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Elias Murr, President of the Interpol Foundation for A Safer World, has said that the UAE, with its announcement today about its support for seven projects in Interpols fight against international crime and terrorism, has become a beacon of security, covering 7 billion people and 190 countries around the world.

He added that the leadership of the UAE had initiated, with the co-operation and support of these seven Interpol projects, its leading position among world countries, highlighting that the country today is five to six years ahead of most countries with these projects, the details of which will be revealed tomorrow at the forum.

He stressed that the world would realise, during the Unity for Security Forum hosted by Abu Dhabi, that the UAE had foreseen the future and was ahead preparing its vision and perceptions to face the security challenges threatening the world.

The UAE has launched these programmes and projects to benefit the entire world, and each country will be a partner and primary beneficiary from these projects, which will help them develop their security and create a safer world, he pointed out.

In the next five years, countries across the world will benefit from these projects, including the private sectors in these countries, he declared.

"With the announcement of these projects today, we can say that we have been able to create a strategic and qualitative leap in international security levels," he said.

The Interpol Foundation for a Safer World was established on 29th October, 2013, to strengthen international co-operation in criminal issues, with the aim of preventing crime by elevating the level of awareness of security and supporting the organisations that contribute to fighting crime.
