TOKYO, 1st May, 2017 (WAM) -- The Japanese Cabinet has granted approval for Japans official participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) revealed.

The cabinet appointed the METI as the chief organising ministry; the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as organising ministries, and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) as a participating organisation.

It is significant that Japan participates in the exposition as the event will bring together visitors from across the world and offer a great opportunity to strengthen the international communitys understanding of Japan, the statement said.

The exposition will also serve as a great opportunity to showcase to the world how Japans cutting-edge technologies can contribute to overcoming global-level challenges, METI noted.

The exposition, by displaying Japans attractive points, will contribute to both the promotion of Japans trade with and investment in the UAE, as well as other countries, and to the development of collaboration between related industries in Japan and around the world, according to the METI statement.
