DUBAI- The Blood Donation Centre of the Dubai Health Authority, DHA, has launched "Dami", a blood donation app that seeks to make it easier for the public to find a time and place to donate blood.

Commenting on the app launch, Dr. Mai Raouf, Director of the Dubai Blood Donation Centre, said, "It will also allow blood donors to answer a donation eligibility questionnaire and read pre-donation educational materials through their mobile phones, before they come to the donation centre."Dr. Raouf added that launching the app is in line with DHAs vision to provide services to its customers at the click of a button, and to support the authoritys vision of creating a happy and healthy society.

"Through this app, donors can also receive invitations for activities related to blood donations on their smart devices, and get notifications on donation campaigns," she added.

The application will allow the public to register their details so they can be contacted during emergencies and disasters to donate blood. This will also support local blood donation services by creating a comprehensive database of blood donors, to cover the needs of hospitals.

"The app will help avoid human errors and add an extra layer to transfusion safety," she highlighted.
