ABU DHABI, 25th June, 2017 (WAM) The Al Ihsan Charity Association has distributed more than 600,000 light iftar meals to motorists during the holy month of Ramadan as part of its efforts to reduce road accidents during the rush hours before Maghrib prayers.

Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Association, said the traffic safety campaign was carried out in co-ordination with its strategic partners, the Ministry of Interior and the National Media Council. It was assisted by some10,000 volunteers, including women, children, youths, and people with determination, from more than 60 government entities.

"The campaign, in its sixth year, saw a significant turnout from different forces of the community, especially after its expansion to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain," he added.

Al Nuaim noted that the campaign contributed to reducing accidents, as motorists often speed to reach their destinations before iftar.
