The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) today announced the opening of an office in Hong Kong, marking its first on-the-ground presence in the territory. It also announced the appointment of Mr. Dong-Sinh Ngo as Chief Representative, Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong.

ADIA Hong Kong will act as a platform for ADIA to broaden and deepen its network of relationships and identify new opportunities in China and other key Asian markets. In addition to bringing ADIA closer to its key local contacts and investments, the office will assist in identifying new avenues for cooperation and growth in one of the fastest developing regions in the world.

As Chief Representative, Asia Pacific, Mr. Ngo will support ADIA’s senior investment professionals based in Abu Dhabi. He will manage a team with responsibility for conducting a broad range of investment-related research and on-going analysis of Asia Pacific market and economic trends.

Commenting on the news, Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of ADIA said: “ADIA has been investing and building relationships in Asia for more than three decades, with a portfolio that spans multiple asset classes. Dong-Sinh Ngo is a Swiss national, fluent in Cantonese, English, French and German. Mr. Ngo is a seasoned investment professional with a host of international financial experience. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ngo was Head of Products and Investment Solutions at Credit Agricole in Hong Kong where he took on a senior management function within the private bank. Previously, he was Chief Strategist for Emerging Markets & APAC at BNP Paribas where he was the regional head of strategy, responsible for asset allocations in Asia and global emerging markets. He was also a member of BNP Paribas Asset Management investment committee and Chairman of the Regional Investment Committee.

Mr. Ngo is a Charterholder from the CFA Institute, holds a Diploma in Private Banking from the UBS Private Banking School in Switzerland as well as a Master’s degree in Management from the HEC Lausanne School of Business in Switzerland.
