ABU DHABI, 9th May, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has held a telephone conversation with Gerry Brownlee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, congratulating him on his appointment as the New Zealand Foreign Minister.

During the telephone conversation, Sheikh Abdullah expressed his happiness as New Zealand announced that it joined the list of countries that have signalled their participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the telephone call, Sheikh Abdullah and Mr. Brownlee also discussed joint cooperation relations between the UAE and New Zealand and means of boosting them, as well as exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed affirmed that the success of Expo 2020 Dubai in attracting a large number of countries is an expression of these countries' response to the vision of Emirati diplomacy in the importance of deepening international cooperation and breaking the barriers that hamper development.

The UAE Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of joint work between the two countries as donor countries in the field of development and the provision of assistance and technical support to developing countries. At the same time, Expo is an important platform to strengthen the partnership that will allow the two countries to work in the two geographical areas to which they belong.

He said that the two countries, through Expo 2020 Dubai and other channels, should work on supporting innovation and unleash the potential of young people in both countries and the other parts of the world.
