Tehran – Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs Marzieh Shahdaie says about 23 million tons of petrochemicals, worth $11 billion, are to be exported this year (started March 21).

Shahdaie said once all petrochemical projects are operational, the nominal capacity of the petrochemical industry will rise to 72 million tons a year.

She said production of different kinds of petrochemical products is expected to exceed 59 million tons in the year ahead, showing 18 percent growth.

Elsewhere in her remarks, Shahdaie said regarding better international engagements and positive atmosphere in the post-JCPOA era, meeting the targets does not seem unlikely.

According to the official, preparation of suitable ground for re-marketing of Iranian products in Europe prompted Iranian petrochemical industry to regain its lost share in the market and to this end, Iran will do its best to have more active presence in international markets this year.
