RIYADH — Zain KSA has announced its main sponsorship of Al-Diriyah Season as a major and exclusive telecom partner, in recognition of the importance of the event being held from November 22 to December 21, 2019.

The announcement was made in the presence of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and Eng. Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Deghaither, Chief Executive Officer of Zain KSA. The agreement was signed at the headquarters of Al-Diriyah season between the General Sports Authority represented by Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Baeshen, Director General of Events Management, and Zain KSA represented by Rayan bin Abdullah Al-Turki, Executive Vice President of Communications.

Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki stressed the importance of the telecommunications sector and its pivotal role in developing a modern lifestyle through providing incentive means to practice sports and recreational activities and participate in its activities, highlighting Zain KSA’s contribution to this objective by sponsoring a number of key events in this area.

He added “our partnerships with Zain KSA have a significant role in raising awareness of the importance of GSA’s role, and consolidating its mission to transform the Saudi society into a healthier society through the practice of sports activities, in line the objectives of the Quality of Life Program, one of the Saudi Vision 2030 realization programs.”

On the sidelines of the launch of Al-Diriyah Season, Eng. Al-Deghaither announced that Zain KSA will fully cover Al-Diriyah Season with its 5G network and will exclusively provide its advanced telecom services to all guests and participants in various events.

He added that this step is part of Zain KSA’s ongoing efforts to support all tourism, cultural and entertainment events and programs in various regions around the Kingdom in order to promote tourism and give visitors the opportunity to explore the Kingdom and learn about its heritage and history, and contribute to enhancing this important sector of the local economy and the diversity of its sources.

Al-Diriyah Season is one of the 11 festivals of the “Saudi Seasons” program launched in the Kingdom in 2019 under the supervision of the General Sports Authority, the Ministry of Culture, the General Entertainment Authority, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, to transform the Kingdom into a global tourist destination.

Al-Diriyah Season hosts a range of sporting and entertainment events, including the 2nd Formula E, which was held in two rounds om Nov. 22-23. 22nd and 23rd November.

And Al-Diriyah Tennis Cup from on December 12-14 at the 15,000-seat Diriyah Arena, and Clash on the Dunes on the first-ever World Heavyweight Title fight in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between Andy Ruiz and Anthony Joshua on December 7.

It will also host Diriyah Equestrian world-class riders, during the extended duration on December 12-14 and December 19-21, where points scored during the festival will account toward the qualification of the individual riders in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Zain KSA provides its 5G network services in 27 cities across the Kingdom through 2,600 towers, which is the first and broadest 5G coverage in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

The Saudi General Sports Authority’s goals are to raise awareness of the importance of practicing sports activities, enhance the Kingdom’s competitiveness in this context, develop the efficiency and quality of sports facilities and achieve the financial sustainability of the sector in line with the goals and strategies of Saudi Vision 2030. — SG
