Muscat:  Reiterating its commitment towards supporting and implementing socio-economic activities in the Sultanate, Sohar Islamic - Sohar International’s Islamic Banking window recently distributed Eidiya to all orphans at the Child Care Centre and children at the Oman Association for the Disabled in Muscat on the joyous occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr. This initiative comes as part of the bank’s ongoing social activities, contributing to overall community wellbeing, thereby playing a pivotal role in the country’s philanthropic roadmap.

Commenting on Sohar Islamic’s social support for organizations, Mr. Abdul Wahid Al Murshidi, Chief Islamic Banking Officer, said, “Sharing in the joy and celebration of Eid is something no child should miss out on.  Which is why, to bring smiles to their faces on this glorious occasion, Sohar Islamic distributed Eidiya to all orphans and children through the Child Care Centre and Oman Association for the Disabled in Muscat.  This stems from our strong believe as a socially responsible financial institution, that it is necessary for organizations to collaborate and support their emergence as sustainable, self-sufficient, and valued members of local communities. We consciously aim to promote the spirit of giving and contributing, through efforts that showcase tangible human impact, and are relevant in today’s time, connecting us to our community”

The Eidiya amounts allocated for the orphans at the Child Care Centre were handed over to the facility organizers at their premises represented by Mr Zayed Juma AL Hadidi, Assistant Director of the Child Care Centre. Representing Oman Association for the Disabled in Muscat, Ms Fakhriyah Mohammed Al Subhi, Director of the Association, received the Eidiya.

Over the years, Sohar Islamic has been involved with a number of CSR initiatives that contribute to the socio-economic development of the Sultanate and the nation at large.  The bank has an active and strong portfolio of CSR activities, covering various charitable causes that have contributed to provide better lives for people in need through collaborations with numerous associations within the Sultanate.

The Child Care centre was established in 1995, and takes care of orphaned children, providing them with care and attention to the basic requirements for stability and decent living. The centre seeks to harness all its potentials to serve the orphans and build privileged relations with all concerned parties to contribute to their participation in sustainable community development. Since inception, the Oman Association for the Disabled has been a vehicle that connects the society; and act as a catalyst for change, increasing the social and economic development scope for people with disabilities.
