The Egyptian government is investing EGP 135 billion in water desalination developments until 2030 to generate drinking water, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said, according to an October 18thstatement.
The state, meanwhile, has spent a total of EGP 124 billion on carrying out drinking water and wastewater projects over the past six years.
The government has also developed, since 2014, drinking water projects at a value of EGP 38.5 billion, Egypt’s housing minister Assem el Gazzar earlier said.
Last August, President Abdel Fattah el Sisi urged the ministries to expand national developments to reduce water shortages.
