Abu Dhabi, UAE:  The Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine Conference (ESEM 2019) is going to be held from 11th to 14th of December 2019 at the Jumeirah At Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. ESEM conference is the largest ongoing annual gathering on emergency medicine in the middle east, primarily in the areas of Pre-hospital care, Trauma, Imaging, Sepsis, Critical Care, Medical Education, Emergency Nursing and other subbranches related to the field of emergency medicine.

Hospitals across UAE receives thousands of emergency cases every month related to heart attacks, strokes, complications of diabetes, car accidents, burns, stomach issues, bronchitis, asthma, food poisoning, gynaecological and other kinds of emergencies. With such a huge influx of emergency cases it is vital that healthcare professionals are equipped with latest medical knowledge and techniques for better patient care.

Dr Saleh Fares, President, Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine (ESEM) and Chair of Conference said: “Emergency care and emergency medicine plays a vital role in the healthcare system. The initial management and stabilisation of a patient in need of emergency care is critical and requires intensive training and resources. Very often the timely and efficient intervention during emergency cases makes the difference between life and death” 

He further added that keeping in view the education and training requirements, The Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine organises ESEM conference every year to provide opportunity for practitioners to learn about current and developing trends in the practice of emergent, urgent, and critical care. The program features state-of-the-art teaching formats, including evidence-based lectures, small group discussions, workshops, and simulation in procedural skills, experts talks, oral and poster presentations.

In the United Arab Emirates, there are five emergency medicine residence programs, training over 100+ residents over four years, Arab Board Program, U.A.E. has become one the leading countries in the region to support emergency medicine education as a speciality.

ESEM19 is expecting over 1,400 participants from around 40 countries including emergency and primary care physicians, residents, emergency nurses, nurse practitioners, hospital administrators, EMT/Paramedics and many others. Apart from the main conference the event will feature specialised workshops on Emergency Nursing leadership, Trauma updates, Decontamination in the emergency department, Fundamentals of Critical Care, Ultrasound, Research, Radiology and others.

More than 150 leading regional and international experts will cover different aspects of emergency medicine over four days of gathering. The conference will host the Presidents from various regional and international emergency medicines associations, including the President of International Federation of Emergency Medicine, The President of Australian College of Emergency Medicine, President of American Academy of Emergency Medicine and many other Presidents of the society.

This year the congress received a record number over 180 research abstracts from across the globe which make ESEM a unique global platform for learning and innovation. The annual conference is supported by Department of Health of Abu Dhabi, Ministry of Health and Prevention, Abu Dhabi Police, SEHA, ADNOC, Dubai Health authority, National Ambulance, Emirates Medical Association, Emirates Nursing Association, regional and international societies.

The main conference has been accredited with up to 25 CME and 45+ CME for workshops collectively.
