ByrneLooby has appointed Christian Seifart as the new Marine Technical Director of their Middle East Division. For the past seven years, Christian has been living in the UAE where he has held a number of senior engineering roles, including Engineering Manager at Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP).

At ADP, he led the engineering team to deliver large infrastructure projects such as Khalifa port, successfully managing engineering activities and teams under their significant CAPEX programme.  Christian is a registered professional (chartered) engineer with 12 years’ experience in port and coastal engineering. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (2008) and a Master’s Degree in Port and Coastal Engineering.  At Artelia Dubai, Christian worked as a Senior Coastal Engineer on some of the most iconic projects along the Dubai coastline, including Bluewaters Island, La Mer and Jumana Island. Christian will work with ByrneLooby’s multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver world-class projects for new and existing clients in the Middle East.

Director of the Middle East, John Barnes said, “We have ambitious plans to expand in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi and the UAE.  In Christian, we have found a proven marine and ports engineering leader whose international experience and expertise can build on our strong reputation in providing ports and marine engineering services to clients in the Middle East. Christian’s focus on delivering large complex projects has resulted in lasting relationships and trust, as well as an impressive portfolio of past project experience.”

Michael Looby, Managing Director of Water and the Middle East Divisions commented, “I am delighted to welcome Christian to the team at ByrneLooby who will greatly add to our marine capabilities. ByrneLooby have worked on the most complex of marine projects including the Al Naseem Development in Bahrain, the Mardumah Seawall in Saudi Arabia as well as the Miraya and Island marinas at the prestigious Amaala coastal development (Saudi Arabia). We always place clients, innovation and investing in our people at the heart of our engineering services provision and Christian will be key in raising awareness of our extensive capabilities in the Middle East.”

Christian Seifart said: I had an incredible experience at Abu Dhabi Ports. It provided me with a great sense of achievement to work with the teams to reclaim 3.5sqkm of new terminal area and 7km of quay wall at Khalifa port. At ByrneLooby, the people, client-focus and their focus on technical excellence create huge growth potential, and I look forward to bringing that added value to clients and projects.”
