Dubai: Dubai Maker Faire announces this year’s staging of the global event from 26-28 February 2019 at Zabeel Halls 2 & 3 of the Dubai World Trade Centre. Dubai Maker Faire aims to entertain, inform, connect, and grow the community of creative minds and innovators of all ages in Dubai. The event is under the initiative of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Educational Performance.

The Organizing Committee of the Dubai Maker Faire promises this year’s edition to be bigger, more exciting, and with more innovations to be featured. Among the categories for Dubai Maker Faire 2019 are engineering, industrial, scientific, technical, education, recreational, and several others.

The exhibition will be attended by a number of government officials, experts and specialists in the field of innovation, in order to share knowledge and experiences from around the world, as well as to motivate participants from various sectors of society and encourage them to form a culture of innovation and industrialization.

In line with the UAE's strategic efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable future based on innovation and talent development, Dr. Jamal Al Muhairi, Vice President of the Board of Trustees, Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Excellence in Education Performance, is proud to present and organize the Dubai Maker Faire exhibition in UAE. It is the largest international event that embraces industry and innovator projects from around the world. The world's leading exhibition is a reflection of the Foundation's ongoing efforts to foster a culture of innovation and drive talent for creativity, which is what societies are developing and elevating, especially the Emirati community that has created an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. The world-leading Maker Faire exhibition aims to highlight the emerging young industries and creations that combine modern technology with handicrafts. It is an international gathering with the participation of major international institutions and the elite of the world's best experts in modern technology to serve and encourage young and innovative young people inside and outside the UAE.”

This year’s Dubai Maker Faire has been conceptualized to include more exciting activities and competitions. There will be competition for projects in various fields where out of 10 projects voted by the visitors at the event, top 5 projects will be selected by the Evaluation Committee.

An amount of AED100,000 has been allocated by the Awarding Committee for selected projects. Said committee will also offer the opportunity to sponsor project ideas and turn them into products to be introduced to the market.

Dubai Maker Faire will also hold insightful lectures on innovation, manufacturing, and creativity delivered by a number of ministers, experts, inventors, and engineers from around the world.

There will also be a series of practical and technical workshops such as arts and crafts, 3D printing, welding, shearing, laser sewing and furniture manufacturing for different age groups.

Another major highlight in the exhibition will be the Hackathon Challenge where teams are formed to find innovative solutions to challenges within a specified period of time. The teams will be supervised by technical professionals and evaluated by experts from different disciplines. Winning innovators will receive a cash prize of AED20,000, second place will receive AED10,000, and AED5,000 for third place.

Arts and entertainment enthusiasts attending the exhibition can interact and participate during the artistic and interactive presentations where distinct projects will be invented onsite at the event.
