Ras Al Khaimah to get 110km irrigation network in four years

Ras Al Khaimah is set to have a new irrigation network that will extend to over 110km covering all parts of the emirate.

"The planned irrigation network is one of the most advanced," said Ahmad Al Hammadi, director-general, department of public works, RAK.

"This will be the longest and biggest irrigation network in the modern history of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah."

The mega project is in line with the ongoing sustainable development plans, Al Hammadi pointed out.

"The old irrigation network will be replaced with an entirely new and high quality one, catering to the needs of the emirate."

The new network, to be completed in four years, includes a fully integrated irrigation system, he explained.

"It can be regulated remotely from the premises of the department without the need to be monitored from a specific place."

The new network can also be controlled via the mobile phone, according to Saeed Ali Al Kas, deputy executive director, horticulture establishment at the department.

"The project, to be carried out in four phases - one phase every year - will give a big boost to the developmental projects in the emirate."
