UAE - Oracle has launched the first of two planned second-generation Cloud regions in Dubai, as part of its plan to have 36 Cloud regions by July 2021.

By adding the Dubai Cloud regions, Oracle has expanded its Cloud regions across the world to 26, according to a press release on Thursday.

The new Cloud regions will offer all Oracle Cloud services, including Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Applications.

Meanwhile, the new regions will enable the UAE's government entities, large enterprises, and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to accelerate their digital transformation and increase the contribution of digital technology in the UAE economy.

The group Vice President and Regional Managing Director for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa at IDC, Jyoti Lalchandani, commented: "On the back of these demand and supply-side drivers, we expect spending on public cloud in the UAE to surpass $430million this year and $1 billion by 2024, growing at a CAGR of 25% over the 5-year period from 2019-2024."
