4TS International Conference - 19-20 February 2015, Dubai

CME accredited conference attracts more than 500 specialists in interventional cardiology, vascular surgery and interventional radiology from around the world

18 February 2015 (Dubai, United Arab Emirates): Dubai will host the inaugural international conference 4TS (Top To Toe Transcatheter Solutions), led by conference founder and chairman, Dr. Omar Kamel Hallak, Chief of Interventional Cardiology and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the American Hospital Dubai. The subjects covered include Coronary Intervention, Endovascular Intervention, Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology.

The 4TS conference is being organized in collaboration with the International Society of Endovascular Specialists and the American College of Cardiology Chapter in the UAE (Emirates Cardiac Society) and has attracted more than 100 leading speakers from around the world. The conference has been accredited for CME hours by the United Arab Emirates University and European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology.

The inaugural 4TS - Top To Toe Transcatheter Solutions - international  conference has been specifically designed for physicians who specialize in interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and interventional radiology, as well as fellows, residents, and other healthcare professionals interested in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The two-day conference will be held on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th February 2015 at the Conrad Dubai Hotel, consisting of workshops, presentations, live cases, live in a box session and debates.

Catheters are fine tubes that can be inserted into the body to treat disease - such as cardiovascular disease - using minimally invasive surgery; through the catheters, specialists can perform a range of procedures such as inserting devices including medical balloons, coils or stents, into arteries around the heart; these 'transcatheter solutions' have the potential to treat conditions effectively more widely around the body - 'top to toe'.

Speaking about the inaugural 4TS conference, Founder and Chairman, Dr Omar Kamel Hallak, Chief of Interventional Cardiology at the American Hospital Dubai, said: "This unique conference will bring together the top specialists from the Middle East and beyond the region to look at issues such as a multidisciplinary team approach to treating cardiovascular disease and the potential for transcatheter procedures around the whole body. We have more than 100 renowned speakers participating in the conference , sharing their experience in their fields, from top institutions including Texas Heart Institute, Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, and Washington University, and hospitals across the Middle East.

CEO, American Hospital Dubai, Peter Makowski, added: "The American Hospital Dubai is pleased to be playing a prominent role in the conference, and sharing our own pioneering work in interventional cardiology undertaken by our team from The Heart Center. We are already seeing the benefits of our multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care with innovative procedures, which are saving lives."

The Heart Center at the American Hospital Dubai has recently introduced three new procedures offering new hope to patients for very common health conditions - heart arrhythmia, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and resistant hypertension. These conditions can be life threatening and are now treatable through advanced minimal access surgery. The American Hospital Dubai launched The Heart Center in 2004 to treat all types of adult cardiac conditions including interventional cardiology and surgery.
