BAGHDAD / NINA / Chinese ambassador in Baghdad, Chen Wei Cheng announced his country's desire to develop economic and trade relations with Iraq and the possibility of the contribution of Chinese companies in the construction of projects through investment or partnership with the Iraqi private sector.

He noted that the volume of trade with Iraq exceeded 20 billion dollars, which can be increased in light of what the relations between the two countries is seen of progress and development in all areas.

The Chinese ambassador said during a meeting with the Acting Minister of Trade Salman Jumaili, according to a statement of the Ministry, "China opened its doors to Iraqi students to study and obtain certificates of scientific, medical and engineering to more than 200 specialties each year, which opens the door to developing Iraqi cadres in various fields."

For his part, al-Jumaili, confirmed the need for Iraq to activate the decisions of Chinese- Iraqi joint Committee that held its last meetings in Beijing through coordination with the relevant authorities in the ministries and private bodies.

He said that "China has important role in the rehabilitation of the electricity sector and build industrial cities in a modern way, as well as studying the possibility of buying on credit."

Jumaili explained the depth of relations between the two countries, pointing out that Iraq appreciates China's support to Iraq in the important and substantive issues as well as the position of China's participation in different sectors in the country.
