In an increasingly digital world, companies must ensure they have better network visibility and their applications are running smoothly to drive innovation and slow down employee turnover, a new report suggests.

A survey conducted by Riverbed, an information technology (IT) company, has recently highlighted the frustration felt by many workers over outdated technology and poor-running applications.

About 53 percent of those polled in the UAE said they’re not satisfied by the current network performance in their organisation, with IT infrastructure being blamed for the poor performance.

One in three IT decision-makers (ITDMs) in the UAE reported that they don’t have full visibility over the applications, their networks and end-users.

Slow-running and outdated technology is also directly impacting the growth of their businesses, 88 percent of C-Suite and BDMs said.

With these in mind, more than 85 percent of IT and business leaders in the UAE believe that businesses should improve network visibility and application performance to drive innovation and ensure staff retention.

The survey, titled ‘Rethink Possible: Visibility and Network Performance – The Pillars of Business Success,’ showed that 79 percent of C-Suite, ITDMs and business decision-makers (BDMs) in the emirates see digital performance as increasingly critical for business growth.

About 87 percent of the UAE’s ITDMs acknowledge that their IT infrastructure will have to change dramatically in the next five years to support new ways of doing business, while 95 percent recognise that innovation and breaking boundaries are crucial to business success. About 60 percent also strongly believe that investing in next-generation technology is vital.

EMEA key findings

In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), 73 percent of C-Suite decision-makers agree that increased visibility into network and application performance is key to driving business innovation.

The majority of the respondents (86 percent) said that digital performance is increasingly critical to business growth, while 84 percent revealed that enhancing the customer’s digital experience is increasingly critical to long-term success.

About six in ten (59 percent) said they are dissatisfied with their job because of old technology and a lack of investment in IT, while 82 percent said businesses need to rethink what’s possible to survive in today’s unpredictable world.
