Emirates District Cooling (Emicool), a wholly owned unit of Dubai Investments, has announced marking a year of operation after the implementation of the first phase with 10 Renault ZOE electric vehicle fleet, cutting CO2 emissions by 135.5 Tons and vehicle maintenance costs by 48%.

A leading district cooling service provider in the region, Emicool is ranked the first private district cooling company in the UAE to convert to the electric vehicle fleet with the Renault ZOE.

The company said it aims to enhance and expand the electric car fleet services across all its 18 district cooling plants as part of the efforts reiterating the company’s sustainability initiatives.

Confirming a significant drop in the annual maintenance costs of the electric cars, and the elimination of fuel costs over the conventional cars, Emicool pointed out that the initiative was also aiding to environmental and economic sustainability.
"In line with supporting the government’s initiative of promoting green transportation and with electric vehicles forming an ever-greater proportion of transport fleets around the Middle East, organizations across the world are working to contribute towards reducing carbon footprints. We are extremely glad that we have completed a year of successful operations with our electric car fleet," remarked its CEO Dr Adib Moubadder.

"In order to succeed as a business while supporting the future of our environment, we consciously engage in initiatives and develop systems, promoting sustainability across the entire value chain and set a benchmark in providing sustainable solutions," he added.
With a driving range in normal conditions of 300km, 7.25 hours charge time for the battery from a single phase charging station, a 1hr 40min quick-charge option from 0 to 80% and a 2hr 40min option for a 100% charge, Emicool is working with the concerned authorities to make more EV.
With approximately 50% of the fleet already moving to electrically run cars, Emicool said it is aiming to convert the entire fleet by 2024, which would result in a total reduction in green gas emissions by 400 ton CO2 per year and reduce the overall vehicle maintenance cost by 48%.
The current electrically run fleet is used to provide efficient customer services, underlining Emicool’s commitment towards implementing initiatives promoting environmental and economic sustainability across all business phases, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
