Muscat: The Minister of Health Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi inaugurated the 5th edition of Oman Health Exhibition and Conference at the Oman International Exhibition Centre on Monday.

Pioneer and leading organiser Omanexpo's health and medical event, the biggest health platform and the flagship event for Oman's health industry, will run from September 7 to 9.

This year, as the event's conference partner, the Ministry of Health played a direct hand in providing the conference direction and thrust, based on the critical and relevant issues facing the sector at present.

In his welcome address at the inauguration ceremony, Nader Abbas, General Manager, Omanexpo states, "The valuable support of the Ministry of Health, which we have received since the show's initial edition in 2009, has been fundamental to the continued success of the show in terms of our aim as organisers to help push forward the government's initiatives for its Health Vision 2050. It has also been vital to the engagement, increased involvement and participation of segments of the health and medical sector, both locally and internationally."

The conference will centre on topics such as investment opportunities in Oman's health sector, healthcare insurance, medical genetics, emergency medicine, cancer, cardiology, trauma and orthopaedics and will be presented by esteemed speakers Dr Ahmed al Mandhari, Director General of Quality Control, Ministry of Health; Prof Michael A Patton, Emeritus Professor of Medical Genetics St Georges University of London; Dr Taha al Lawati, Senior Consultant General Surgeon, Royal Hospital, Oman, Executive President, European Asiatic Society Surgical Oncology; Dr Giorgio Fassina, Chairman of the Board, Chief Scientific Officer, XEPTAGEN S.p.A. (Italy), Prof Dr Ingo Schellenberg Germany, Head of the Institute of Bioanalytical Sciences (IBAS) of Center of Life Sciences; Dr Farid Ghasemzadeh MD, Chief of orthopaedics -- Iranian Hospital Dubai / UAE, to name a few.

The exhibition will feature over 100 companies and international hospitals and healthcare centres, exhibits that range from medical products and equipment, personal care products, diagnostic and laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical products, physiotherapy and orthopaedic technology to services that range from eye care, skin care, cosmetic, and infertility treatment consultancy.

Alongside the event, specialists from some of the biggest clinics and hospitals in Germany, Iran, India, UAE, Thailand, Malaysia and Turkey will be offering medical consultations and check-up services.

The event has enlisted the support of Oman Medical Association, India Tourism and Oman Cancer Association and the sponsorship of Muscat Eye Laser Center.

Oman Health exhibition hours are from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Conference hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
