The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre has welcomed Chef Mauro Gomez as its new head executive chef.

In his new role, Gomez will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the culinary vision of the luxury hotel, bringing his wealth of award-winning expertise.

During his time in Doha, Gomez received several awards while sharing his passion and expertise with the property, including Restaurant of the Year by BBC Good Food ME, for Market by Jean-Georges, Time Out Doha for the Restaurant of the Year for Market by Jean Georges.

Following his tenure with W Hotels, Gomez developed a relationship with celebrity chef Richard Sandoval and joined him as his corporate chef, later moving to a vice president - Global Operations position, overseeing more than 50 of Sandoval’s restaurants located worldwide, from Tokyo to Los Cabos and Belgrade to Abu Dhabi.

As a native of Argentina, Gomez began his training at the age of 12, working in his family’s restaurant, trained by his grandmother in traditional Spanish and Argentinean classics. Moving to the US, Gomez started his career in Miami, working as the chef de cuisine of Campo Argentino. Following this, he had the great opportunity to join an award-winning five-star Forbes Restaurant at the Biltmore Hotel under the leadership of Phillipe Ruiz; where he learned everything about nouvelle and traditional French cuisine which has defined his professional standards for the industry.

Gomez also spent time as an executive chef of the luxurious W Maldives, following a move to central Vietnam to open two hotels as an area executive chef for the luxury group Banyan Tree. It was during the time he spent working and travelling in Asia and the Middle-East where Gomez started to create unique dishes and learned new culinary techniques.
