Dubai, UAE: Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) has embarked on a digital transformation journey and aims to integrate all its departments with a robust technology framework in line with the country’s smart government strategy. SHA also aims to contribute towards the country’s Vision2021 by constantly introducing latest technology to enhance their IT framework.

As part of this digital strategy, SHA will launch its unique health insurance App during GITEX. This interface has several user friendly and unique features that will enable users to easily locate the hospital, clinic, pharmacy or a diagnostic center near their current location or any specified location.  Thousands of beneficiaries of Sharjah will benefit from this technology. SHA already has a customized health insurance software framework and this APP will be integrated within it. SHA health insurance system is already linked with the Emirates ID network and certain beneficiaries can make use of it by producing their Emirates ID instead of insurance card.

Under the directive of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in 2012, Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) was entrusted with the task of restructuring the health insurance policies of various Sharjah Government departments.

H.E. Abdulla Ali Al Mahyan, Chairman of Sharjah Health Authority and SHCC said “Our vision is to lead the healthcare industry and set an example for the industry stakeholders. We are on a mission to digitize all our departments at SHA and have a 360-degree approach where all the work happens on a real-time basis. SHA has been a powerful dynamic catalyst between the insurance agency and the health insurance beneficiaries in order to provide the later with the best possible insurance cover scheme to address their medical needs,”.

Quick information like emergency contacts, help desk support, social media links, health tips and notifications are all inbuilt within this APP. This initiative reflects the authority’s efforts to educate their team on best health-care insurance practices and standards, which will greatly contribute towards SHA’s move to raise its standards to excellence in service.

Mrs. Amel Al Qatari, Head of Health Insurance Department, stated that, “With the introduction with this state-of-the-art App, we have gone a step further and have made the vital difference to our strong workforce. The App will store all information about the employee and their families who are covered with the insurance and users can retrieve their information at ease”.

Health insurance has been provided for all the Sharjah Government employees and their dependents since 2012. This App will use secured API/Web Services to keep data secure and use the best servers to deliver the data faster to the devices. With this App the employees can enjoy a cardless entry in any healthcare centre covered by the insurance. They just need to show the e-card from their mobile.

The SHA implements its various healthcare projects in the light of its carefully researched strategy aimed at creating an excellent healthcare sector backed by the latest international experts in various healthcare areas, consistent with the unlimited support received from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The authority has already made significant strides in this direction, including the Sharjah Healthcare City, which is under formation, and is moving ahead to achieve the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
