Abu Dhabi: The Museum of Moroccan Heritage at this year’s 'Morocco in Abu Dhabi' event, organized by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, entertains visitors with a large collection of historical artifacts and antiquities embodying Morocco's history and civilization, which are being exhibited outside the Kingdom for the first time.

The Museum is a must-see destination for culture and art admirers, providing them with an opportunity to examine Morocco’s ancient monuments linking the East and West, featuring 300 items, including an exclusive collection of Islamic manuscripts, Islamic coins, oil lanterns, Islamic ceramic utensils, monetary ornaments and equestrian tools, as well as an overview of a variety of Moroccan fine arts reflecting Morocco’s authenticity and historical depth.

Mehdi Qotbi, President of the Moroccan National Foundation Museums, said, "Morocco in Abu Dhabi reflects the deep and historic relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco and their peoples, which are being widened through the values of tolerance and amity. The UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular, has become a global destination, connecting the civilizations of the East with West, supporting culture and arts and promoting peace among all. The event has seen tremendous success during the past three editions, attracting a wide audience from UAE nationals and residents. In that time, the Museum of Moroccan Heritage has received thousands of visitors".

Abdelaziz Al Idrissi, the Museum's Director of Morocco in Abu Dhabi, noted: “The Museum’s participation in the Morocco in Abu Dhabi event is a top priority for Moroccan museums. We present to the world a glimpse of the original Moroccan heritage, which is an extraordinary blend of the everlasting transformations of Moroccan geography. It combines the culture of the sea and the desert, in addition to many distinctive DNAs that inhabitants experienced over thousands of years. Thus, this museum is a cultural ambassador of Morocco’s great heritage and all of what we Moroccans cherish and are proud of.”

"Each year, the museum gains greater popularity, a fact that underscores the high culture and artistic sense of Abu Dhabi and UAE nationals, residents and visitors alike. I observe their great interest in our exhibits, antiques and artifacts, especially the rare collection of antiques and monuments that we are showcasing outside Morocco for the first time, embodying the heritage of civilizations and migrations that travelled across its land throughout ancient centuries", Al Idrissi added.

The Museum’s displays encapsulate centuries of Moroccan art, heritage and culture, condensed for the UAE citizens to learn about the history of those who lived in Morocco, through the exhibits, which are themselves a showcase in which images of beauty, style and originality are combined. The Museum assembles a distinctive ethnic and geographical mixture that draws in visitors from the start of their tour.

The Museum of Moroccan Heritage also presents coins dating back to pre- and post- Islamic eras, as well as rare artifacts that are being exhibited outside Morocco for the first time. The museum showcases a distinguished collection of traditional oil lamps and Andalusian ceramic pots, among many other items on show.

The Morocco in Abu Dhabi 2019 event will run until 30th April at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). This year’s edition is filled with a friendly, welcoming heritage environment, enriching visitors’ memories and imagination with its diverse cultural, artistic and historical activities and antique collections.
