Tokyo, Japan: The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is proud to announce its successful participation in the “Arab Health 2017” exhibition held at Dubai World Trade Centre from January 30 to February 2, 2017. The Japanese pavilion introduced international medical specialists and so many visitors to the latest health innovations and technologies from 20 companies, including 11 exhibitors making their first trip to Arab Health from Japan.

The Japanese companies which took part in this exhibition shed light on the latest technologies and showcased a multitude of exceptional healthcare innovations. These included ultra-thin needles that lessen patient discomfort, a new anti-decubitus air mattress system and micro blades with uniquely shaped edges for fine incision. This caliber of innovation is why Japan has been a longtime pioneer in the industry,” said Masami Ando, Managing Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Dubai & MENA.

Their participation is a step forward in strengthening and further boosting Japan’s advanced technology in the field of quality healthcare delivery systems. This was especially important considering Japan has bounced back from the economic doldrums it suffered in the late 1990s and has implemented the “Japan is Back” policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo in 2013. This special event was also an occasion to share Japanese technology that can help solve obesity and diabetes, two crucial medical issues that remain a problem for some segments of the MENA population.

These 20 manufacturing companies focusing on healthcare needs such as infection control products, rehabilitation and physiotherapy equipment, hydrotherapy medical devices, automatic labeling systems, disposable surgical needles and gentle lighting will be able to make a great impact in the highly competitive industry in the Middle East, currently dominated by huge players from the US and Europe.

The Japan Pavilion at Arab Health 2017 attracted healthcare industry specialists, including importers and distributors in the MENA region seeking to profit from the scientific progress that Japan has attained in the areas of medical devices and healthcare technology.
