Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - The Islamic Research and Training and Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group has announced a call for nominations for the prestigious IsDB Prize in Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance for the year 2019.

Individuals and institutions throughout the world are invited to nominate eligible individuals and institutions for the annual prize, which is organized by IRTI on behalf of the IsDB Group.

The objective of the prize is to recognize, reward and encourage creative efforts (academic or practical) of outstanding merit made by individuals and institutions in the field of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance.

The prize comes with a cash award of 30,000 Islamic Dinars (approximately US$ 47,000).

IsDB instituted the annual prize in 1988 with IRTI as the general secretariat responsible for organizing and coordinating the nomination, selection and award presentation processes. To date, the prize has been awarded to a total of 37 recipients, comprising 33 individuals (including economists, bankers and jurists) and four institutions (research centers and financial institutions) from different parts of the world.

Director General of IRTI, Dr. Humayon Dar, said: “IRTI is delighted to be responsible for this internationally-acclaimed prize, which has proven to be one of IsDB Group’s key contributions in recognizing, rewarding and encouraging activities of outstanding merit in promoting excellent work in Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance.”
