DUBAI, 20th April, 2017 (WAM) -- Dubai Municipality has been shortlisted for the 5th International Best Practice Competition and the 1st Organisation-Wide Innovation Award to be held on 25th and 26th April in Mumbai, India. The municipality has been shortlisted for its project, "Application of the TRADE Benchmarking Methodology to improve the purchasing process".

The municipality has been represented in the competition by the team that spearheads the Initiative for the Development of Procurement Channels and its Procedures. Speaking during the announcement regarding Dubai Municipality's qualification, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, encouraged all employees to continue to work with healthy competition towards winning various local and international awards in various fields.

The shortlisted project is aimed at identifying and implementing best practices in the field of procurement to improve the performance of purchases by simplifying the procedures related to purchasing operations.

It also aims to reduce the time taken to complete purchase orders from 26 days to 12 days in order to increase customer satisfaction, and simplify technical study procedures, application of smart purchasing channels, identification of more challenging indicators, and working standards of partnerships with suppliers.

The project targets to improve the operational performance indicators, meet customer needs, provide materials with the required quality, reduce time spent on purchase orders, improve the performance of each individual, and issue purchase orders in record time.

The Procurement Channels Development Initiative team is led by Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni and comprises Khalid Musa Al Raeesi, Ibrahim Al Emadi, Rahma Khalid Al Ali, Ali Essa Abdulrahman and Rafiah Musabeh Al Ghafli.
