Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced that the closing ceremony for the Gulf Real Estate Awards 2018 will be held on Wednesday 21st March at the Jumeirah Hotel - Al Safina ballroom from 7 to 10 p.m.

The awards programme aims to stimulate innovation in the real estate sector in alignment with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and his vision of encouraging further innovation to achieve a quantum leap that will position Dubai as the regional capital of real estate innovation.

DLD has received over 170 nominations submitted by 69 companies in 22 categories from eight countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The department has also received nominations from countries outside the region including Egypt, India and the Maldives. Entries were closed on 18th December 2017 and DLD announced the list of finalists on 27th December 2017.

His Excellency Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, said: “"The second edition of the Gulf Real Estate Awards is a continuation of the success achieved in the inaugural edition. We received a huge number of entries which posed a great challenge for members of the jury, who were faced with the tough task of selecting the very best before the finalists were announced. The competition was stiff because of the work submitted was of such an exceptionally high quality. This confirms that regional companies are confident in the integrity of the Gulf Real Estate Awards programme and keen to obtain accreditation from an awards programme that is respected for its credibility and transparency. "

Dubai Land Department has set many targets to achieve by launching the Gulf Real Estate Awards. In addition to its role in rewarding and honouring the best real estate companies, the awards programme also cements Dubai as a leading destination for global awards for various sectors, a backdrop for the largest gathering of excellence in the industry, and a hub for real estate growth. By attracting the best minds in the industry, the Gulf Real Estate Awards is helping Dubai to reach ever higher levels of leadership and innovation.

Mahmoud El Burai, CEO of the Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI), commented: “Taking place in Dubai, the Gulf Real Estate Awards demonstrates the DREI’s success in leading best practices and growth in the real estate industry, contributes to spreading real estate knowledge, and consolidates best practices among all parties and entities operating in the sector. Although the awards programme is only in its

second edition, it is already the largest and most prestigious gathering of real estate professionals as it celebrates the industry's outstanding achievements in the region.”

The Gulf Real Estate Awards is the result of an agreement signed by DREI, the educational arm of DLD, and ‘Awards International’ on the side-lines of Cityscape Global 2016. The two parties worked together to launch the awards programme, which targets all companies operating in the real estate sector in the Gulf region, and celebrates the best regional real estate achievements. In its first edition, the awards programme received 150 entries from four countries, making it the most prominent event attracting industry leaders across the region.
