Beirut: The Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda announces the opening of its new Embassy in Lebanon in Downtown Beirut. The mission, which formally opened its doors at the start of September 2019, is headed by Resident Ambassador, H.E. Hanna Akar.

The two nations established formal diplomatic relations in April 2017, when the President of Lebanon formally agreed on the accreditation of Mr Akar, on presentation of his credentials as Antigua and Barbuda’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary resident ambassador in the Lebanese Republic.

The two nations enjoy cooperative bilateral relations and have engaged in collaborative projects in recent years focused on sustainable energy. Antigua has been home for decades to a highly respected business community of individuals of Lebanese and Middle Eastern descent, and enjoys cordial ties with the Eastern Mediterranean nation. Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda also enjoy ease of access to Lebanon and are able to avail of a visa-on-arrival for one month.

“It gives us great pleasure to be able to serve the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda residing in Lebanon and neighbouring Middle Eastern nations and ensure they enjoy closer ties with their home country,” says H.E. Hanna Akar. “The opening of the new Embassy will enable the provision of essential guidance and ease of access to key consular services, such as the renewals and replacements of lost passports, document attestations, visa requests, registration of new-born children and spouses, and providing information on swearing the Oath of Allegiance to new citizens.”

The setting up of the Embassy in Beirut is expected to greatly ease communication efforts for the active community of citizens of the Caribbean nation living and working in the Middle East.

Antigua and Barbuda nationals are encouraged to register themselves by emailing beirut@embassyofantigua.org  or calling on (+961) 76/50 60 50 or (+961) 01/36 10 59.
