Dubai:Three UAE-based entities pledged support to building a new heart center in Egypt as part of the Arab Hope Maker’s Humanitarian Cause of the Year.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Al Ansari Group and GEMS Education will make a financial contribution to support the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in Egypt that will provide free-of-charge cardiac care and open-heart surgeries to the region’s disadvantaged families, especially children, unable to afford treatment.
Contributions will be announced at the Arab Hope Makers final grand show, scheduled to take place at Coca-Cola Arena, City Walk, on February 20, 2020. The announcement of contributions will complement the variety show’s proceeds that will be allocated to support building the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in Egypt.
The new center will conduct 12,000 heart surgeries annually, of which 70 per cent will target children, and will receive over 80,000 patients annually.
It will expand access to a world-class treatment among vulnerable communities through a fully-equipped facility with the latest research and surgical technologies and qualified medical cadres. The new facility will provide free-of-charge cardiovascular care to patients across the Arab world.

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said, “Humanitarian work is a main principle that sets the UAE apart as the world’s most generous country that topped the list of donors of official development aid.” He added, “The Arab Hope Makers initiative that honors the value of giving starts a new phase by supporting an exceptional Arab humanitarian project that contributes to the healthcare industry and utilizes advanced technologies to save lives. The RTA is keen to be part of this excellent initiative that drives and ensures sustainability of humanitarian work across the Arab world.”
