The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is organising a webinar on Monday, March 8 to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness about gender equality on International Women’s Day.

The webinar will be hosted by ABCC’s ‘WAHI – Women who Inspire’ committee, under the theme ‘Arab Women Who Inspire’, with a focus on business culture in Arab countries. The WAHI committee provides a common platform for Brazilian and Arab women to collect in terms of business opportunities, social responsibility, culture and foreign trade.

The online event will feature Alessandra Frisso, Chair of the WAHI Committee, Silvia Antibas, Director of ABCC and the WAHI Committee and Claudia Haddad, Director of ABCC and WAHI Committee. Special guests including Maysoun Odeh, founder of Nisaa FM radio station (Palestine) and Hala Bugaighis, founder of non-government organization Jusoor Center for Studies and Development (Libya) will also be part of the event.

Commenting on the webinar, Rubens Hannun, President of ABCC said: “ABCC has recognized women’s significant role in the social and economic development of Brazil and Arab countries which led to us establishing the WAHI committee. Through this platform, we engage with women as they share their stories and experiences of working in Arab countries. The pandemic has made it difficult to hold an in-person event, and as such we are hosting the webinar virtually, which will allow us to spread our message to a wider audience. With this event, we hope to encourage more Arab and Brazilian businesswomen to make their way into new markets and explore greater opportunities.”

The WAHI Committee is a multi-platform designed to strengthen the relations among Arab and Brazilian women and how they contribute to economic development, cultural enhancement, corporate social responsibility, and social marketing, to name a few. The committee seeks to provide opportunities for these women to forge new connections, share their experiences in their areas of expertise, explore business opportunities, and inspire each other to become more innovative and promote entrepreneurship.
