The UAE Central Bank on Tuesday asked commercial banks in the country to supply new currency notes during the upcoming Eid season to meet customers' needs.

"Central Bank of the UAE regularly ensures all banks operating in the UAE are provided with new bank notes, to meet the needs of their customers during festive seasons," the apex bank said in a statement.

As Eid Al Fitr approaches, the Central Bank has instructed all banks to ensure cash exchange services are well taken care of and customers' needs are met in line with UAE initiatives to spread happiness to customers.

The UAE's public sector will start Eid holidays from Sunday, June 2, for one week, with work resuming on Sunday, June 9. Eid Al Fitr holidays for the private sector will begin on Monday, June 3 (Ramadan 29) and last until Shawwal 3. Work will resume on Shawwal 4.
