Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa reviewed preparations for the 29th Annual Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference (MPGC 2022), which will be held in Bahrain on January 24 and 25.

The conference will bring together a group of executives, heads of global oil and gas companies, senior government officials, policymakers, global oil traders, energy experts, analysts and leading energy organisations. They will discuss important topics such as energy markets, Middle East trading and pricing transformation, LNG trading outlook, future fuels and energy transition, the changing refining landscape: another golden age, and many topics of interest in the oil sector.

Shaikh Mohammed virtually met conference vice-president Dr Fereidun Fesharaki in the presence of Oil Ministry acting under-secretary Faihan Mohammed Al Faihani to discuss programmes and events of the conference, which will be organised in co-operation with the Oil Ministry and Bapco.

This year’s edition will be an opportunity to highlight the reality and future of the oil and gas industry in the region and the world, and the mechanisms to achieve the balance of energy markets in light of the challenges arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The minister stressed that Bahrain is keen to host such specialised events and conferences, because of its reputation in strengthening the kingdom’s position, and benefiting from it in supporting the economic movement and attracting more investments. He wished the conference will be a success and enhance international and local efforts in the development of the energy industry.

“World oil markets are witnessing challenges and pressures from the push to shift to clean energy, and attracting many environmentally friendly oil projects that are a source of energy to reduce carbon emissions and combat environmental pollution,” he said, noting that the GCC countries have adopted a number of environmental initiatives that contribute strongly to achieving the global goals of providing a balanced and sustainable environment for all.
