Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance (MoF), is launching a new range of third-generation e-Dirham cards that will enable residents to access 5,000 government services.

The cards, which can be used to pay for services from ministries and federal and local authorities, allow payment through different platforms including apps, e-wallet, vouchers and self-service eKiosks.

The ADIB eDirham Gold and ADIB eDirham Signature are designed to reduce transaction fees and can be topped up at its branches, the bank said. They can also be linked to the eDirham Instant app so customers can make instant payments and view their transaction history on their smartphones.

“The launch of the new e-Dirham cards will mark a major milestone in the development of the UAE’s cashless payment industry, and will meet the current and prospective requirements of government service fees payments,” said Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, assistant undersecretary of resource and budget sector at the Ministry of Finance.

“The eDirham platform is witnessing an ever-growing increase of customers as a result of the ministry’s efforts to develop an advanced and secure digital infrastructure that manages daily transactions, and to provide a digital and physical network to enable customers to easily recharge their account.”
