Cairo – The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development allocated an additional amount of EGP 750 million for the canal rehabilitation and lining project in the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation’s plan for fiscal year 2020/2021.

The project is aimed at rationalising the use of water resources and preserving canals in line with the national objectives for water resources by 2037, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Saaed, said in a statement on Tuesday.

It is expected to save about 5 billion cubic metres per year.
