France's minimum wage will rise by 2.19% to 11.52 euros ($12.73) per hour on May 1, in a bid to help workers cope with inflation, said the country's labour ministry.

This will lift the monthly minimum wage to 1,747.20 euros in gross terms from 1,709.28 euros previously.

Data released earlier on Friday showed that France's annual inflation in March came in slightly higher than previously thought to stand at 5.7%, although this marked a decline from 6.3% in February.
