India's currency, debt and equity markets will be closed on Aug. 31, Wednesday for a holiday. Markets will resume trading on Sept. 1, Thursday.

The NSE Nifty 50 index ended up 2.58% at 17,759.30 on Tuesday, while the S&P BSE Sensex gained 2.7% to 59,537.07.

The benchmark 10-year government bond yield ended at 7.1893%, while the rupee surged 0.6% to 79.45 against the U.S. dollar. (Bengaluru Newsroom)
