Tokyo shares ended nearly flat Friday, staying in a narrow band throughout the day as investors waited for Japan's earnings season to kick off fully.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index added 0.07 percent, or 19.81 points, to 27,382.56, while the broader Topix index rose 0.22 percent, or 4.26 points, to 1,982.66.
