Riyadh –  Remittances paid by Filipino labour in GCC countries dropped by 11.21% on an annual basis in 2020.

Filipinos’ remittances from the Gulf region registered $5.11 billion last year, compared to $5.76 billion in 2019, according to data collected by Mubasher based on figures from the Central Bank of the Philippines.

The remittances represented 17.09% of the total transfers made by Filipinos around the world, totalling $29.90 billion.

Moreover, Filipinos’ remittances from Asian states amounted to $6.73 billion, of which transfers from the GCC region dominated 75.93%.
