Expresses solidarity and support with people in flood-hit Yemen

Jeddah, 17. November, 2008 - Western Union, a global leader in money transfer services, announced today that the transfer fee for all money transfers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to Yemen, has been waived starting Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 30, 2008.

This initiative aims at extending financial assistance to the thousands of expatriates working in KSA who want to send money back home to floods-hit Yemen, as well as Yemeni nationals who want to extend help to their relatives, friends and fellow countrymen in the disaster areas.

The money transfer fees for any amount sent to Yemen from KSA will be SR 0. Although there is no transfer fee, Western Union will make money changing money into foreign currency.

Jean Claude Farah, Western Union Regional Vice President for Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan, said: "We would like to express our deepest sympathy to all our valued customers who have family and loved ones affected by the catastrophic flooding in Yemen. Waiving our transfer fee in order to lessen the financial burden on our Yemeni customers in this time of need is the least we can do to help them cope with the aftermath of this natural disaster."

Expatriates using Western Union to send money to Yemen benefit not only from the special transfer fee waiver, but also from a reliable money-transfer process that is protected using state-of-the-art technology. Keeping the customer's convenience as a priority, money transferred via Western Union is available for pick-up within minutes from the over 200 Western Union Agent locations across Yemen, subject of course to Agent location hours.
